Help Shape Lead the City 2027 • Pastoring While Young • Does Your Church Offer Pastoral Residencies? • Celebrating Accessibility with Covenant Presbyterian
Did You Attend a Lead the City Conversations 2026 Gathering?
This year marked a new chapter for us as we shifted from our traditional two-day Lead the City conference format to monthly gatherings hosted by local churches throughout Chicago, and we loved it! We were so encouraged by the conversations around the tables, in the hallways, and over lunch—old friends reconnecting, new relationships forming, and leaders discovering they are not alone in the work God has called them to in our city. Together, we explored:
How Do We Lead Through Grief? with John Onwuchekwa and Dr. Deb Gorton
Empire or Kingdom? with Sho Baraka and Malcolm Foley
Who Is Shaping Us? with Caleb Campbell
Are We Leading from Wholeness? with Drew Hyun
And as we begin planning for 2027, we’d love your input on the format, topics, and what was meaningful to you. If you attended any of the events this year, you’re invited to take our brief feedback survey and be entered to win a $150 gift card. *You must have attended at least one event to be eligible. Entries will be verified against event registrations to confirm.

Weekly Spotlight
Covenant Presbyterian Church in Bucktown is doing something worth celebrating! After a two-year journey that included a structural assessment of their historic building, they’ve been working on a major accessibility project, and services have officially returned to the sanctuary after a few months of worshipping in their gym and Fellowship Hall during construction. This major construction project is a committed effort to make their space welcoming to all.
In the sanctuary, they’re adding accessible restrooms, a street-level entrance, elevator access to both the sanctuary and basement, an expanded narthex, and a ramp to the chancel. The education building is getting an accessible entrance and ramp to the main floor along with updated restrooms.
Covenant is making sure their doors are open to everyone God might send their way, and we're glad to see it taking shape on the North Side!
For the body does not consist of one member but of many. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
- 1 Corinthians 12:14, 22-26
