Weekly Spotlight
Chicagoland Collective Gathering
Leaders from across the city recently gathered through the Chicagoland Collective for a meaningful weekend of worship, vision, and connection. Friday evening brought pastors and ministry leaders together for a bilingual gathering that reflected the diversity of the Chicagoland church. The evening also included a time of reflection with International Justice Mission, reminding us that pursuing justice is part of the church’s calling. During the gathering, Robert Guerrero offered a powerful distinction between “Babel Unity,” where we seek to build a name for ourselves, and “Pentecost Unity,” where we live from the name God has already given us.
On Saturday - Feb. 28, the gathering continued with a focused time of encouragement and reflection alongside Spanish-speaking pastors and leaders across Chicagoland. Together they prayed, shared insights, and discussed the future of church planting and leadership in our city. It was a hopeful reminder that God is moving through Hispanic pastors and leaders throughout Chicagoland, and we are grateful for all who continue to seek the good of our city together.
Memorial Service at House of Hope
This past week, Salem Baptist Church and Pastor Charlie Dates hosted “The People’s Celebration” at the House of Hope, honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. A courageous civil rights leader and tireless advocate for justice, Rev. Jackson’s leadership shaped generations and helped open doors for many across our nation.
We’re grateful for the witness of churches like Salem who help our city pause to remember, give thanks, and honor a life of faith, courage, and service. If you were unable to attend, you can watch the full service, including prayers, tributes, speeches, and musical performances, at the link here.
